LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – Friday 15th November – Talking Drum Entertainment the UK based company dedicated to the development and distribution of black film and TV content have completed the blueprint for a Alternative Theatrical Distribution model to extend the European theatrical release window for black films and provide a release platform for films that don’t quite quality for a mainstream theatrical release.

The window will kick off with award winning romantic drama ‘TANGO WITH ME’ starring Genevieve Nnaji and Joseph Benjamin and will be followed by a number of other titles.

Dapo Oshiyemi an executive of the company said “Our recent experience with black films has shown that the mainstream distribution system is not very forgiving and we don’t blame them, after all we are in competition for screen time with some of the biggest films in the world, so by the time a film like ‘Tango with Me’ for example really took off we did not have enough screens available to meet the demand and the complaints poured in, so it was pretty obvious to us that we had to do something to complement the mainstream distribution model and satisfy our audience and that’s how we come up with the Alternative Theatrical Distribution Model. We always want to make sure that everybody who wants to see any of our films is able to do so”.

The Talking Drum Executive also disclosed that they will be announcing in the near future a number of high profile partners they will be working with on this initiative. (TRENDYPR?)
